A walk in the woods is here!

Tuesday, April 3rd, 2012

You might have seen it announced in our Facebook page, you might have even got a notification direct to your email account if you previously asked us to do so… but if you haven’t read it in either of those places, now you know: Aneela Hoey’s sweetest ever collection, A walk in the Woods, is in stock and we love it!

We have fabric on the bolt and also charm packs and layer cakes.  If you don’t know where to start or what to do with it, I will strongly suggest to get at least a charm pack, for under £10 you can’t go wrong and you get 42 squares of prettiness!

I am going to do that, and maybe a bit of the mushrooms or the blue birds … I have no idea what I am going to do with them but I know I won’t make the same mistake that I did with her first collection, the fabric sold so quickly that I never had a chance to keep something for my owm stash and the same happened worldwide so I couldn’t even re-stock it.  Oh well, you live and learn ;)

Working with the Pips

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

You know how these things work, you see something online, then you see it in a shop, you read about it on other blogs, your friend also has one, what next?  Well naturally you also want it.  I am not immune to that, not even when it comes to fabrics.

For quite some months now, we have seen Annela Hoey’s first collection, Sherbet Pips, all over the internet.  Quilts, blankets, bags, dresses, throws, placemats, you name it, someone has done it.  I have been cutting and packing quite a lot of these fabrics and have already sold out some of the designs (yes I have kicked myself several times because I haven’t kept even a tiny scrap of them for myself).

So before it was too late, I grabbed a few fabrics and cut some pieces to make a cushion.  I must say that I truly enjoy working with these fabrics.  I think that the tiny details are the best part, like the small mice or the snails that almost seem like they have sneaked in the design.

Inspired by a quilt pattern in the book "Simplify with Camille Roskelly"

I did however get stuck in choosing the fabric for the back of the cushion.  It was getting a bit too pink for me, but my dear friend Nicola (more about this talented girl very soon) suggested going for Kona in Rich Red or Skipping square dots in Candy Blue.  I think I am going to go for the red.

In a moment of madness I thought of adding piping, but I don’t think it needs it and I just want to finish it.  I have this feeling that it is going to become sort of a “comfort pillow” that I will drag with me everywhere I go.

Sunday Stash

Sunday, June 5th, 2011

I am very keen to start a new tradition here at The Fabric Loft, and something tells me you are going to like it.

Every Sunday I am going to select one fabric and sell it at a reduced price, the reduction will be always different but I promise you won’t be disappointed.  This silly price will only last for 2 days, Sunday and Monday, just to help you with a smooth transition from weekend to weekdays.

So without further a do, our first fabric to be showcased in Sunday Stash is —drum roll please—

Scarf Stripe in Grey from the Sherbet Pips collection

by Aneela Hoey

I know that you might be thinking that scarves are just not cool for summer, but really, these ones are just so great that you could make things all year around with them, and of course, it would be a nice addition to your stash.

Minimum order is half a metre, there is no need for a code, so just add it to your shopping cart et voilà!

See you during the week, but make sure you pop in every Sunday to see the next surprise  I have chosen for you ;)

A bit of what is new in the shop

Thursday, May 19th, 2011

I just popped in to let you know that Sherbet Pips by Aneela Hoey and Just Wing It by Momo is in stock now.

Both collections are very different, Momo’s designs is still very bold and Aneela Hoey is sweet and almost nostalgic, but both are fun and once you see them, you just want to have them and make lots of things with them.

Have a peek at the website, I am off to cut some fabric :)

42 squares per charm pack with all the designs of the collection... This time I am going to keep one :)
