Plaid Flowers in Red – Floursack

I didn’t know why the name of floursack, but clever Nicola did the research and this is what she found: “Printed floursacks, (and feedsacks) were a tradition beginning in the great depression, but lasted into the 1950′s. It is estimated that by the early 1940′s over 3 million women and children were wearing some version of a printed feedbag garments.”

Sunday Stash #17

Sunday, October 16th, 2011

This week went fast, I just can’t believe we are in mid October already! Summer seems like a long way away and Autumn in definetely here with all its lovely presents. Yummy fruit and berries, cooler days, and beautiful colours in the parks. So we thought to also offer you a nice present and this Sunday Stash offer is perfect for this season and the next…

Robert Kaufman Corduroy 21 Wale in Silver

This corduroy is very similar to needlecord, soft, with a beautiful texture that you won’t believe it is as strong as it really is.
The colour is silver but don’t think it is shiny. It is like an off white, something that you will find at The White Company sort of thing; you know, a more forgiving white.

What to make with it?? Well, the list is endless but you can make garments of all sorts, messenger bags, Christmas stockings and othe holiday decorations, and I can picture the most feminine clutch of them all! And because is 57″/1.44m wide you dont need to buy lots to make little things.

The offer will last from today until Wednesday.

Have a lovely Sunday and a great week!

Tuesday Treat – REVISED

Tuesday, October 11th, 2011

As promised last Sunday, here is a yummy fabric at a discounted price. Sasha in Toffee is a modern bold design, but somehow there is a nostalgic vibe, like what you get with vintage fabrics. But I guess it all depends on what you match it with, if you Use Tarika in Moss you get such a happy and vibrant combination!

Sunday Stash #16

Sunday, October 2nd, 2011

Wow! I can’t belive how fast this week went! It feels like it was only a few days ago that people were talking about children going back to school and now it is all about Christmas and presents and stocking up for Christmas fairs.  I feel like I really want to stop and just enjoy the autumn, it is my favourite season of all.  The colours, the flavours, days are getting shorter but you don’t mind because it is not too cold (certainly not this week!)… and well, yes, I must admit I do start planning a bit my handmade presents, and decorations for the house.

You might be a bit more organized than me, and if you already have a list and a budget for your handmade presents, we would like to help you with not just a Sunday Stash Sale, but a Week Stash Sale.  Two fabrics on sale for a whole week!

The first one is a real treasure, Flower Garden in Jelly by Momo.  This is one of those patterns that you can use for many things, it can be the main fabric of whatever you are making, or you can use it to line a bag or purse to give it that special touch.  The pattern has medium and small details, so even a small left over of fabric can be useful for a small project, whether it is a small patchwork cushion, a doll dress or you can just keep it for a rainy day ;)

Flowers and butterflies, a real garden for you!

Winged Flight in Leaf is the second fabric on sale,  it is a panel but before you blank it out from your mind, let me tell you that I have seen very clever things to make with panes.  Of course you can also make a quick quilt with a panel and then just hand stitch some details to bring the wadding and backing together, and curtains and cushions are always a good option to add some fun to any room.  I want to make a shopping bag with it (handles and lining with this solid), or  a girl’s dress, kind of a children’s and bolder version of an Echino design.

Check the tiny bees! Adorable!

Right, I am going to leave you now so you can make your mind and if you want browse for other designs from the same range… or why not? mix and match with other collections.

Nicola is making a quilt with these fabrics, raise your hand if you want to see it finished ;)

Enjoy the rest of the weekend and have a great week!

Sunday Stash #11

Sunday, August 21st, 2011

I am very happy to offer you this fabric at a special price.  This voile is my favourite of three that we have in stock.  Mixed Signals by Anna Maria Horner is a very simple design and the colours are striking.  Apologies for the bad photos but this voile has a fabulous sheen and I am not a pro at taking photos, so you would have to excuse me.

I wish I could explain you with words you would have to touch this fine cotton voile to experience its soft feel and its delicate drape.

I would love a maxi dress using this or a loose blouse, you wouldn’t nee any accessories to go because the fabric is doing it all for you.  Saying that, there are may other smaller projects using cotton voiles now, a comfy throw or a delicate little purse could be a good way of using this fabric.

I close for now and let you enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Have a good one :)
