About Vikings, fjords and a bit of crafts

Friday, July 30th, 2010

It has been over a week since I post anything but things have been a bit hectic around here, but all for the good! As it is Friday today and we all want to take it easy, I thought of sharing with you a few photos from last week.

Whilst you were busy shopping with us during our Free Shipping offer last week, I was in a boat going around some of the beautiful Norwegian fjords. Apart from the disappointment that the boat was not a real viking boat and nobody was wearing helmets with big horns, the scenery wasspectacular, the sea food as everybody would expect was brilliant and, well, the prices were a bit steep but hey we had a fantastic time!

Although it was a very short trip I managed to squeeze my traditional search for crafty shops. I was not so lucky finding fabric shops, but I was spoiled with yarn choices. Rows and rows of different colours, shades and textures. I brought back with me a fair isle pattern forslippers, lets hope I can knit them both the same size!!

I leave you with some pictures, I am not sure about you but I am ready for another holiday!

Summer Weekends

Monday, July 19th, 2010

There is something about summer that I just want to go out and so something. So far every weekend I have been out and about, not necessarily being very productive, butdefinitelydoing lots of things. Last weekend we went to Bath for theIt’s Darling Bath’s Vintage and Handmade Fair. It was fantastic! It was a small fair, no more than 20 stalls but I could have spend all day there and a lot of money too.

Every single stall had something unique and everybody was so friendly and helpful that the time went quite fast, and I didn’t take as many picture as I wanted to (or as I had promised!). If you missed the fair, here are very few although not very good photos but I will strongly encourage you to checkScrapiana’s blog (I must warn you, you will adore this blog),Random Vintage (lesson learned, if you see anything in this shop that you like buy now or regret it forever) and keep and eye out for all the lovely goodies thatGinger and Pep will have in her online shop.

We also had a quick look at Rookes Book. Anyone that knows me, knows that one of my passions is buying books (yes, I love buying books more than reading them), so this lovely books store was in my places to go ever since I read this post by Eirlys. Next time you are in Bath, have a wander but be warned, expect to spend more time and money than you initially had in mind.

Lovely books at Rooke Books

On Sunday, still full of handmade/homemade spirit, I made a clafoutis (I made one on Friday and missed an important ingredient but we don’t want to talk about that). I think it was the best way to finish a summer weekend withthejuiciestcherries I have had this year!

Washed and ready to be pitted
