A bit of gossip

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

I have been biting my nails for some time now to share a bit of news with you… I was going to tell you a few weeks ago but I have been busy with one thing and another and I haven’t managed to sit down and catch up with you.  Bad I know, but I promise you it will never happen again. Today, I have switched off my phone, logged off facebook and coffee in hand determined to keep you up to day with all the gossip.

I am thrilled to announced that The Fabric Loft is no longer a “one-woman-band” but a team of two mad woman that love colour, design, fabrics, yarns, crafts, coffee and cakes.  Nicola, a very good friend of mine, has joined me to run the shop together.  Some of you might have already spoken or received emails from her, and for the ones of you that also knit and crochet, you might be familiar with her online shop Yarn Box… so yes, she is brave, or mad, or a bit of both, but one thing is for sure, she is committed to be part of the crafts movement and have some fun in they way.

Kumari Gardens and Sweet Nothings

You might think that this is not a big deal, many shops are run by more than one person, but let me tell you something, if I ever thought that owning a fabric shop was one of the best things that I have ever done in my life, running it with a friend is much better than that.  As a child did you ever play with your friends or siblings that you had a shop and sold each other ribbons and dolls? Well, we are doing it for a living!  How fun is that!

Lucky Nicola will keep all the fabrics, yeap she is doing the glamorous side of the business.  As it is for me, I will be doing the social media side.  So please join me to officially welcome Nicola to The Fabric Loft.

And to celebrate, Nicola has put together a bundle, and not only that but it is on a special offer until the end of the week.  I bet you like her already!

How about a quick hello, and pretty fabric to add to your stash? I love choosing fabric for the Sunday Stash sale and I hope you’ll like it too.
While you’re occupied addin fabrics to your shopping cart, I’ll be busy writting and taking some pics of what I have been working on lately. I also have got a few new books that I want to share with you in the next few weeks.

Enjoy today!

Sunday Stash #14

Sunday, September 18th, 2011

Hi there!

Hope you are having a great weekend.  We have been terribly busy packing orders and sending them to everywhere in the UK and Portugal, where we seem to have a loyal and very nice clientele.  Have you also seen the new ranges?  I can’t tell you how much in love I am with the new solids, honestly, they are the type of fabric that you want to make something very special with, so don’t be fool and if you get them as a gift to a friend, you might as well double the order because I won’t see you giving this colours away.

Anyway, you are here for one thing only and it is the Sunday Stash sale.  This week is Springs in Cream by Lourdes Sanchez.   The collection is Botanica, but we have only got this design left.  I have seen lots of accessories made with this particular design, as well as tops and skirts.  One thing that I like about it is that you don’t find it everywhere, so it feels a bit “exclusive”.  This is not the one that you will make a dress with it and someone will have a blanket made with it too.  Nothing wrong with that, but you get what I mean.

Anyway, thank you for stopping by.  Which fabrics do you want to see featured on Sunday Stash?  Should we tempt you with the soft cords?

Sunday Stash #13

Today’s Sunday Stash is a must is every fabric stash.  It is Dumb Dots by Michael Miller in Spice.  Why is so special about this fabric.  Well, I have always considered dots to be an staple in any stash.  They are just very useful. You can use them to line a small bag, for appliqué, to add a nice border to a quilt or bunting, etc.  Of course spotty designs can be use in large projects, you will only need to look at the High Street and see how fashionable they are.

This particular design has a dark chocolate background and rich red spots.   I am sure many of you will see the potential!!!

Have a lovely weekend!

Sunday Stash #12

Well, you may have noticed that we have been a little quiet for a while, and soon we will tell you why; however in the meantime we can tell you that we have had a great weekend with wonderful visits to the park and drooling by the ice cream stall.  So the fabric for today’s Sunday Stash couldn’t be any other but Tarika in Gem.  Those colours remind me so much of all the different jars full of sweets and ice cream parlours, and invariably put a smile on my face.

This Sunday and Monday you can treat yourself to this charming design, and maybe add another from the same collection, Kumari Gardens, or one of Sweet Nothings by Riley Blake that seem to work together so well!
